Influencing Philanthropy

As a national women’s fund, SAWF IN’s prime mandate is to partner with philanthropists and mobilise resources toward efforts advancing women’s and Trans people’s rights. We focus on working with philanthropic networks, donors and sister funds to advocate for a greater share of resources for women's rights work, and seek greater accountability for resourcing the women's rights movement in the country. Our work in this area is constantly informed by the work of our partners, who bring in knowledge and contextual experiences from their ground realities.

  • Working Towards Developing a Feminist Agenda (2021)- SAWF IN along with our partners conducted a field research study on the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on women, trans* persons and girls. The study builds a case for meaningful resource mobilisation that supports gender justice programmes and interventions. The field research was conducted during the months of April 2021 to May 2021 and the timeline of the desk research was from November 2020 to June 2021. The study highlights the critical need for feminist philanthropy, which ensures that resources flow directly into the hands of women and trans* persons led grassroots groups.
